Banded bandits

I absolutely adore the coloring of the belted springtail (Orchesella cincta) and the belted cockroach (Planuncus tingitanus s.l.). They are bred in the same enclosure, since their needed care is very similar, but they are sold separately.

Belted springtail (Orchesella cincta)

The belted springtail grows up to 3 to 5 mm in length, which is extremely large for springtails. Both adults as nymphs are belted. These springtails feed on plant material and are found in the ground, under stones, or in the foliage and leaf litter. I have seen them feeding on fish flakes and yeast as well.

You will receive 10 individuals for €15.

Belted cockroach (Planuncus tingitanus s.l.)

The common name of this species in Dutch is "dwarsbandkakkerlak". This translates directly to "belted cockroach". They got their name due to the belt-pattern on the nymphs. The adults are uniform in color and about 10 to 15 mm in length. These roaches live outside and feed on rotting plant material. I have also seen them eating muesli. This species of cockroach do not procreate indoors and often die after a few days from dehydration if they can't find their way out. As such, they pose no risk to be a household pest.

You will receive 1 nymph for €15.
We are the first to introduce this species into the hobby!

Both species originate from the Netherlands, Europe.
